David has presented at both the Cheltenham and Edinburgh Festivals
and is a well known speaker on University circuits and indeed
on cruise ships. He was a winner last year on Dragons’ Den
and is being backed by Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis’ in
launching a range of fragrances lost in time, found again and
re-created (see www.scentsoftime.co.uk for more information).
His talk will include the experience of Dragons’ Den, the
background to fragrances launched to date (Nenufar, Sacred Scent
of Cleopatra, Pyxis, lost perfume of Pompeii, Ankh, Tutankhamen’s
aroma of intrigue and Maya, Mystic scent of the Americas and
the fifth fragrance of the stable, and Night Star, due for launch
later in 2009). All available from British Museum, SOT own web
site, Firebox and select John Lewis stores.
David will also talk of his crusade with the help of Michael
Edwards, to make perfumes more comprehendible to the general
public, much as the 30 year campaign on wine has done.
At the end of the talk there will be an opportunity to smell
all of the first four fragrances and to keep small samples of
Nenufar and Pyxis and a souvenir card of the range as above.
This promises to be a diverting and interesting talk on “bottled
history” and one not to be missed.
