WFFC-UK 2nd AGM
10th July 2008
The 2nd Annual General Meeting of WFFC-UK was held at Denbies
Wine Estate.
Denbies is the largest British vineyard with a 265 acre estate
situated on the chalky slopes of the Surrey countryside, where
the terrain closely resembles that of the Champagne region of
France.
A welcoming glass of English Sparkling Rose on arrival was followed
by the formalities of the AGM.
In Angie Flay’s absence, Julie Tampsett, Vice President,
delivered the chairman’s report which reinforced the aims
of the society and urged more members to come forward with ideas
for future activities. Lack of support during the year forced
one cancellation, although the February Symposium in London was
well-attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all the participants.
A request for extra help with the committee led to 3 new co-opted
members and the existing committee members are pleased to welcome
Kim Halford, Ruth Willis and Sue Wright.
Formalities of the day over, we enjoyed a traditional buffet
lunch accompanied of course by bottles of the celebrated Denbies
wines, and finished off the day with a tour of the winery and
some more wine-tasting.
